The BETA 1400 model under the KAVAN brand retains the external features of the original BETA 1400 model while being a completely new model with slightly modified dimensions, a new wing profile, a brushless motor featuring a folding propeller, and a significantly more sophisticated design.
Enhanced Features for Superior Performance
New shapes and advancements in foam technology ensure that all parts are much finer and more precise. The BETA 1400 model, a reliable and high-performance training and exercise motor glider, is perfect for flight beginners, guiding them from learning to fly to performing acrobatic figures and thermal soaring. Equally, it delights hobbyists by providing a space-saving and easily transportable model for fantastic, relaxed model flying.
Durable Build and Efficient Motor
Constructed from highly resistant extruded polyolefin foam (EPO) and powered by a brushless motor, the BETA 1400 model withstands rough handling remarkably well. Placing the motor on the pylon behind the wing enables resistance against rough treatment, even during landings that would otherwise damage the propeller on classic models with the motor in the fuselage nose.
Advanced Wing Design and Control
The two-piece wing, also made from EPO foam, is controlled by 2 servos linked through short direct wire linkages in the wing. The wing halves are connected with a carbon fiber (CFK) rod connector and secured with a screw on the underside. The tail units, in the classic arrangement, are also made from EPO foam and controlled by Bowden cables. The motor is cooled by the airstream passing through the pylon and motor openings.
Convenient Assembly and Control
The assembly merely involves gluing the tail units with medium-viscosity instant adhesive, attaching the wing halves, and connecting the receiver and power battery. Control includes ailerons, rudder, elevator, and motor speed.
Enhanced Control Options
To control the model, a minimum 4-channel RC set is required, but using at least a 5-channel computer RC set is ideal. With a 5-channel computer RC set, aileron servos can be controlled independently, allowing for easier differentiation of ailerons and their use as aerodynamic brakes. Further enhancement of the model's control can be achieved by programming dual-rate or exponential throws.
Power Requirements and Flight Characteristics
To power the model, a 3-cell LiPo battery of 11.1V with a capacity of 1600–2200mAh and an XT60 socket with a minimum discharge rate of 20C is necessary. The BETA 1400 is suitable for flight beginners, and it's recommended to take the initial flights under the guidance of an experienced pilot for a pleasurable model flying experience.
ARF Set Contents
The ARF set includes an EPO fuselage with a mounted brushless motor, a folding propeller (7x6"), a KAVAN R-20B speed controller, and 2 servos for the wing with a comprehensive building and flying guide. To complete, a remote control with a receiver and a battery with a charger are required.
